Behind and in front of the camera

Pourshirazi's film career began in two directions at once. He acted in Ali Asghar Askarian's Saf (1984), and he worked as a production planner and assistant director, for example on Kambuzia Partovi's Bazi-ye Bozorgan (1990). Over the years he became a respected character actor. He received critical acclaim for Mom's Guest (2004), The White Meadows, The Oath and The Old Bachelor.

International juries have recognised him twice. At the 6th Dubai International Film Festival in 2009 he was named best actor and received a special jury prize for Mohammad Rasoulof's The White Meadows. Later, The Old Bachelor (Pir Pesar) won him Best Actor at the Transilvania International Film Festival.
