Pejman Jamshidi

About پژمان جمشیدی

Pejman Jamshidi, born in Tehran in 1977, had a full career in professional football before he became one of the busiest actors in Iranian cinema.

Football first

A right-back, Jamshidi came through the youth system at Daraei Tehran and played for Keshavarz and Saipa before joining Persepolis in 2000. In five seasons there he made around 100 appearances and won the 2001–02 Iran Pro League. He was capped 14 times for Iran, including matches in qualifying for the 2002 World Cup, and later played for Pas Tehran, Steel Azin and Foolad Khuzestan before retiring in 2011.

A second career in acting

His screen career began with a guest role in the TV series Sakhteman-e Pezeshkan (Building of Doctors). The breakthrough came in 2013 with Pejman, a sitcom created with Peyman Ghasemkhani in which he played a fictionalised version of himself as a former footballer. Later work earned him Crystal Simorgh nominations at the Fajr Film Festival for The Misunderstanding, Shishlik and Grassland, an honorary diploma for his supporting role in A Relic of the South, and a Hafez Award for best comic actor for the series Zir-e Khaki.
