Pouria Poursorkh

About پوریا پورسرخ

Pouria Poursorkh is an Iranian film and television actor, born in Tehran in 1977. Unusually for an actor, he holds a PhD in plant physiology.

An accidental start

Poursorkh took acting classes with the director Mohammad Hossein Latifi and was due to work as his assistant in 2005. When one of the actors on Latifi's series Farar-e Bozorg dropped out, Poursorkh stepped into the role instead. That was his entry into acting. A year later Latifi's series Vafa made him a recognisable new face. In the same period Latifi's film The Third Day brought him a Best Actor nomination at the Fajr Film Festival. He won a Crystal Simorgh for Best Supporting Actor at the 25th Fajr festival and has been nominated several times for Hafez Awards.

On Pardeh

Poursorkh's Pardeh titles lean heavily towards comedy, often with a crime twist:
- Milk and Honey (Shir o Asal, 2011), a family comedy-drama
- The Potboiler (Khaltoor, 2018), a crime comedy
- Unsophisticated (Cheshm o Goosh Basteh, 2019), a crime comedy
- Vorood o Khorooj Mamnoo (2019), a social comedy
- Hulia (2020), a family comedy

For something more serious, the mystery drama series Criminal Persian Style (Eteraf Mikonam) is his newest title here.
