Naneh Ali's dinner spread lay untouched. The sound of the air raid siren and the anti-aircraft guns echoing in the dark depths of the alley worried her. Waiting for her son to come home from the front, she quietly sat down on the step in front of the door. With these lines from its official synopsis, Ashk-e Hoor, whose title means "the tear of Hoor", opens its story. It is an Iranian war drama written and directed by Mehdi Jafari and produced by Mojtaba Faravardeh.

The Last Days of Ali Hashemi
The film presents a slice of the final days in the life of Ali Hashemi, a commander during the Iran–Iraq war. Rather than telling his whole life story, it concentrates on that last stretch, and on the family waiting for news at home while the war goes on.
A mother waiting at the door
The synopsis frames the story through Naneh Ali, a mother sitting outside her house during an air raid as she waits for her son. Her vigil gives the war story a personal, domestic side.
