Yaser is 28, reads politics with a passion and, through his older brother, is brought into the intelligence branch of the Revolutionary Guards. When he loses his son during the bombing of Tehran, his work becomes personal: he sets out to find the trace of a betrayal inside a hidden political network. Lebas-e Shakhsi is the first feature film written and directed by Amir-Abbas Rabiei, a political and historical drama set in the years that followed the 1979 revolution.

The Last Days of a Secret Network
The story follows the investigation that uncovered the hidden organisation of the Tudeh Party of Iran in the early post-revolutionary years. Rather than a broad history lesson, the film keeps close to Yaser: a young man who joins the intelligence service out of conviction, then finds that grief and suspicion are pulling him deeper into the case. Real political figures of the period, among them Noureddin Kianouri and Ehsan Tabari, appear as characters in the drama. The film's poster line, roughly "be more suspicious of the plainclothes", points to its central theme of trust and hidden loyalties.
Mehdi Nosrati, Toomaj Danesh Behzadi and the Cast
Mehdi Nosrati plays Yaser, and Toomaj Danesh Behzadi plays Hanif, a Revolutionary Guards commander. Keyvan Mahmoudnejad plays the head of the Tudeh Party's secret organisation, and Majid Jafari appears as Noureddin Kianouri. The ensemble also includes Majid Potki, Mahyar Shapouri, Milad Afvaj, Emad Darvishi, Ahmad Lashini, Shahab Bahrami, Rouzbeh Raoufi, Najla Nazarian and Mahmonir Bitari.
Majid Potki, a familiar supporting face in recent Iranian drama, can also be seen on Pardeh in the series Mahkum and Asbad and in the films Beyro and Torghozabad.
Three English Titles for One Film
The Persian title literally means "civilian clothes", the everyday term for plainclothes security agents. That is why the film travels under several English names: IMDb lists it as The Undercover, English Wikipedia uses Personal Clothes and the IMVBox catalogue calls it Plain Clothes. All three refer to the same 2020 film by Amir-Abbas Rabiei.
From Fajr 2020 to Cinemas in 2026
Lebas-e Shakhsi was made in 1398 in the Iranian calendar and premiered in the New Look section of the 38th Fajr Film Festival in February 2020. It then waited several years for a public screening permit. Iranian press reported that the film finally opened in cinemas across the country on Wednesday 15 July 2026 (24 Tir 1405), distributed by Bahman Sabz.
