Plot Summary of Motaham Gorikht 2005

The story centers on Hashem Agha (Sirous Gorjestani), a hardworking but simple man who runs a small exhaust-repair shop in a provincial town not far from Tehran. When his heart condition worsens and doctors advise him to stop heavy work, his university-student daughter Azam, who lives in Tehran, suggests the whole family move to the capital so Hashem can find lighter work and a better life.

Hashem, his wife Sorour (Maryam Amirjalali), their children, his mother Bibi, and son-in-law pack up and migrate to Tehran. What follows is a cascade of comic disasters: housing problems, job struggles, cultural clashes, opportunistic neighbors, romantic complications, and the general chaos of big-city life. The series uses humor to explore the difficulties faced by families who leave small-town simplicity for the promise of Tehran, ultimately questioning whether the move was worth it.
