Mahrokh comes home after two months away on her mother's birthday, with news that unsettles everyone: she has chosen the man she intends to marry, and he is coming to meet the family the next day. Zaferanieh, 14 Tir is a social drama about a wealthy household in Zaferanieh, one of north Tehran's most affluent neighbourhoods, where one announcement exposes a hidden crisis.

One Birthday, One Family Crisis

The story begins on the mother's birthday. The daughter's return was meant to be a simple homecoming, but it turns into a test of how this comfortable family deals with a choice it did not expect. The synopsis keeps the identity of the fiancé, and the family's response, for the film itself.

Mehdi Hashemi and Hengameh Ghaziani Head the Family

Mehdi Hashemi and Hengameh Ghaziani lead the cast. Nazanin Bayati, Ali Ghasemi, Linda Kiani and Masoud Rayegan complete the main ensemble.

Seyed Ali Hashemi's Directing Debut

This is Seyed Ali Hashemi's first film as a director, working from a screenplay by Jaber Ghasemali. Soleiman Alimohammad produced, Alireza Barazandeh was director of photography, Sara Ahani edited and Peyman Khazeni composed the score.

Festival Premiere and a Late Release

The film first screened in Ordibehesht 1398 (spring 2019) in the market section of the 37th Fajr International Film Festival. It also appeared in the Iranian Film Festival Australia that year. Its general release in Iran came years later, on 18 Tir 1404 (July 2025), through Hedayat Film and without any advertising campaign. Online release on Filimo followed on 26 Shahrivar 1404.
